MidnightCommander :

Midnight Commander is a text-based tool for doing ftp. It gives you a split-pane view local and remote and has drop-down menus for file copy, rename/move, delete, chmod, etc. Seems pretty robust and fast.

I have run into one little problem. You can split the panes horizontally or vertically. Vertical is more convenient and that's how I started out. But somewhere along the way m-c got confused and it will no longer show both panes in vertical mode. I think both panes are actually there, but one pane completely fills the window area, obscuring the other one. So I've had to use horizontal split.

TwikiProblems :

Since this is a public website, and since therefore you don't have to be authenticated to view pages, twiki doesn't know who you are except when you are actually editing a page. That means that it will refer to you as Main.TWikiGuest whenever you are merely viewing pages. Search still doesn't work in hidden webs. The MailNotify function is not working yet.

VoidSkin :

For more control over style, try the TWiki.StylePlugin also available at twiki.org . A quick tutorial is located at Main.StylePluginDetails. The Main.VoidSkin controls the overall layout of the page. The TWiki.StylePlugin gives you control over the style of individual paragraphs and text. It's completely configurable and uses only CSS styling to achieve its effects.

The default skin on my TWiki site is the 'void' skin, so named because the stylesheet for it was derived from one at http://www.dotvoid.com with permission . The skin uses almost no graphics - just a small gif for the "Go" button next to the search box at the top of the page, and a "preview" graphic on the preview page. Layout is entirely controlled by css - i.e. the skin does not use tables, frames, or iframes. Consequently, the skin loads quickly and displays well in browsers that support CSS. I've tested the skin with all versions of IE 5.0 and above, Mozilla 1.0, and Konqueror. It looks about the same in each of those browsers.

VoidSkinDev :

Mozilla does not render the voidsizable.css properly. Mozilla may be doing the right thing, but it works in IE. In Mozilla the left-side boxes are rendered inside the main content box. But for the default voidsizefixed.css Mozilla renders the page correctly.
