Dawkins is all over the map in this book. His starting point is an observation by Keats that Newton's theory of color, the 'unweaving of the rainbow', somehow diminishes the wonder we feel on seeing a rainbow. More generally, Dawkins argues against the notion that scientific knowledge is incompatible with wonder, and with poetry.
There are plenty of interesting tidbits, and Dawkins' mind and heart are in the right place. In this time of bitter attacks on science from the far left and the far right it's refreshing to hear from one who has done more than any other to defend and popularize the theory of evolution, and who so consistently insists on reason as the guide to truth.
