The Track of Sand - Inspector Montalbano Mystery #12

by Andrea Camilleri

Review

Montalbano awakes to find a severed horse's head on the beach in front of his house. Never a good sign, especially first thing in the morning.

This is an excellent addition to an excellent series. With entertaining characters, passionate contempt for corruption and abuse of power, and good plotting, these stories are a real joy. The translations by Stephen Sartarelli are brilliant. Even the cover designs are excellent (at least for the US editions).

If you haven't read this series, be sure to start from the beginning with "The Shape of Water".
