To Kill a Wife

Synopsis

Verna Hume is liked by nobody and hated by everyone who has had the misfortune to cross her path. When she's found murdered the husband is the first suspect but is soon in the clear, leaving Inspector Peach and Sergeant Blake to sort out the even half-dozen suspects.

Absolutely no surprises in this one, but if you like the Inspector Peach character then this is a worthwhile read. There's no actual mystery - there's no early clue that would let the perceptive reader figure out the solution. When the answer comes it comes with bells on and both Peach and the reader know who is the killer.
