The A-Z of Creative Photography: Over 70 Techniques Explained in Full

by Lee Frost

Review

Lee Frost is a British photographer and prolific author of books about the art and science of photography. The A-Z of Creative Photography was published in 1998 and deals exclusively with film-based photography. Many of the techniques can only be used with film, so the book is not as useful to those of us who now do only digital photography. However, Frost offers many tips on lighting, exposure, and aperture / depth-of-field that are still valid in the digital world.

The book is beautifully illustrated with examples of each of the 50 techniques, and the explanatory text is lucid and accessible. I would strongly recommend this book to anyone who still does darkroom work, and would recommend it less strongly to digital photographers.
